Der Einsendetermin für
dieses Nachrichtenblatt
fällt mit dem Anfang des
diesjährigen Oktoberfestes zusammen, darum kann ich noch keinen Bericht darüber abgeben. Ein ausführlicher
Bericht folgt in der
nächsten Ausgabe.
Bitte vergesst nicht unser Stiftungsfest am 3.
November. 139 Jahre Bestehen unseres
Klubs sollte ein Grund sein, mitzufeiern
und unsere Halle zu füllen.
Die Mardi Gras Eröffnung ist am 17. November. Nähere Bekanntgaben sind im Oktober
Nachrichtenblatt.

Volkstrauertag findet am 18. November auf
dem Woodland Friedhof statt. Anschliessend gibt es Kaffee und Kuchen im Mannheim Klub (Jagd und Fischverein).

President’s Report
The deadline to hand in this report for the
Bulletin is at the time this year’s Oktoberfest
is just starting. Therefore, things are a bit
busy. My full report of the outcome for this
year’s Oktoberfest will be in the following
Bulletin. We just hope everything goes
smoothly and without major incidents.
Please remember the yearly celebration of
the founding of the Concordia Club
(Siftungsfest) on November 3rd. We are hoping to fill the Hall.
Also please support the opening of the
Mardi Gras on November 17th.
German Remembrance Day (Volkstrauertag)
is on Sunday November 18th at the
Woodland Cemetery followed by Coffee and
Cake at the Mannheim Club (German
Canadian Hunting and Fisching Club).

Grühnkohlwoche
Küchenchef Andreas plant wieder eine
Woche mit seinem Grünkohlessen, wo es
einen Teller mit Grünkohl, doppelgerauchter Wurst, Kassler und Bratkartoffeln
nach norddeutscher Art gibt. Wir bieten
dies sowohl zum Mittagessen als auch zum
Abendessen an, und zwar vom 17.
November bis zum 24. November (solange
der Vorrat reicht).
Seniorenweihnachtsfeier
Am 3. Dezember feiert der Klubvorstand mit
unseren Mitgliedern, welche das Seniorenalter erreicht bzw. überschritten haben, die
alljährliche Concordia Club Seniorenweihnachtsfeier. Hierbei gibt́s selbstverständlich
ein serviertes Abendessen zusammen mit
einem kleinen und bunten Unterhaltungsprogramm. Karten zu dieser Veranstaltung

Am 3. November findet
das diesjährige Stiftungsfest der Mitglieder
des Klubs statt! Karten
für diese Veranstaltung
sind schon seit dem 12.
September erhältlich. Sehr wahrscheinlich
sind Karten nur noch in begrenztem Maße
erhältlich, denn wie Sie alle wissen, kostet
der Eintritt einschließlich Cocktail Stunde
und einem Festessen nur $ 22.- einschließlich Verkaufssteuern und Bedienungsgeld.
Der Schatzmeister des Klubs muss an
diesem Abend eine gute Stange Geld
zuschießen, denn die Eintrittsgelder decken
bei weitem nicht die Unkosten! An diesem
Abend finden alle Ehrungen für verschiedene Jahre der Mitgliedschaft, sowie
die Ernennung neuer Ehrenmitglieder statt.

Band.

gibt’s im Klubbüro zu nur $ 18.- pro Person
einschließlich Verkaufssteuern und Bedienungsgeldern. So weit mir bekannt ist, wird

Selbstverständlich planen wir wieder für
eine schöne und erfolgreiche Sylvesterparty
in der Schenke am 31. Dezember. Dieses
Jahr spielt wieder die beliebten TC Alpine
Echo's
und serviert wird wieder ein
Festessen in 5 Gängen, ganz so, wie wir es
in den Vorjahren gemacht haben. Das
Format des Abends hat sich besonders
bewährt und findet bei unseren Gästen viel
Zuspruch, weshalb wir uns auch in diesem
Jahr dafür entschlossen haben. Reservierungs-Eintrittskarten in Form eines
Gutscheines können zu je $ 60.- pro Person
im Klubbüro erworben werden. (Der Gutschein schließt weder Steuern noch Bedienungsgeld mit ein! Das heißt in anderen
Worten, der Preis pro Person für Essen und
Eintritt ist $ 60.- plus Steuern und Bedienungsgeld. Der Gutschein wird dann von
der Gesamtrechnung (Essen und Getränke)
abgezogen. Mit dem Erwerb der Karten sichern Sie sich einen Tisch und eine gute
Anzahlung an der Gesamtrechnung. Sichern

Stiftungsfest
Although most members get their tickets in
September, we may just have a few left! On
November 3rd, the club celebrates another
successful year in it’s 139 years of history.
Just like it was done in prior years, there
will be a cocktail hour with wine an appetizers, followed by a country style dinner
with dessert. After dinner the club will
honor special members for their continued
years of loyal membership. As far as I know,
new “honorary” members will also be
announced followed by entertainment from
the Black Forest Band. Tickets are still available at a nominal cost of only $ 22.- including all taxes etc.
Kale Week
We feature our themed “Kale Week” from
November 17th through 24th where Chef
Andreas prepares this typical North German
dish with fresh local Kale, locale sausage
and Kassler and local potatoes. This meal
will be featured lunch and dinner time. We
hope our supply of course lasts until the
24th!!
Seniors Christmas Party
On December the 4th we have another reason to celebrate: the club invites all members who reached the age of 65 (and over) to
come and enjoy an evening out with dinner
and entertainment.
Tickets are available in the club office and
the price per senior member is only $ 18.00
inclusive applicable taxes and gratuities!!!!
Of course for that price we serve a special
Christmas Dinner as we’ve done in the past.
I am sure Santa will be there and of course
entertainment is arranged as well. Come on
out and be with your friends!!!
As this event is held in the Schenke and
sells out very quickly, I would like to
remind you that the best seats reserve first,
so don't delay your table reservation for too
long!!
Prepaid Gift Card
We are looking forward serving you!!
If you need a gift Idea for Christmas or any
other occasion: The club is selling prepaid
gift cards in denominations of $ 10.- and up.
The card can be used to pay for food and
beverages in the Schenke, either once or
during multiple visits. It’s an ideal and lasting gift!! Of course we also offer gift certificates in smaller denominations - it’s your
choice, there is lot’s of flexibility.
New Year’s Eve
Tickets in form of vouchers will be available
shortly for our upcoming New Years Eve
Party in the Schenke this year again with
the popular “TC Alpine Echos”. Again as
we have done in previous years a special 5course dinner will be served to celebrate
this special occasion appropriately. Tickets
in form of a dinner voucher are $ 60.- each.
(This dinner voucher will be deducted, like
cash, from your total restaurant bill, where
the dinner portion is $ 60, excluding applicable taxes and gratuities. In other words,
the price for dinner is $ 60.- plus tax, plus
gratuity and the voucher deducts $ 60.-)

Liebe Freunde.
Oktoberfest 2012 ist wieder mal vorbei. Wir
hoffen, dass es für unseren Klub und alle
Untergruppen ein Erfolg war. Ich möchte
mich bei all unseren Gruppenmitgliedern
bedanken, die beim Auf- und Abbau geholfen haben.
Auch bei allen die geholfen haben in der
Bude zu arbeiten. Besonderer Dank geht
natürlich an unseren Henry Laube für die
extra Stunden, die er und seine Frau Helen
reinsteckten. Vielen Dank auch an Hans
Malthaner für das Aufstellen der Entenmaschine, die Hans auch für uns gebaut
hatte! Nach dem Abbau am Sonntag, wollen
wir auch dem Klubvorstand danken, für das
Freibier und das gute Essen .

It’s right in the middle of Oktoberfest!
E-I-E-I-E-I-OH!
Thank you everyone for helping out with
running the choir booths and walking in the
parade. It’s always much appreciated and
important for all involved.
We had a great time at our own event,
Winzerfest. This years Weinkoenigen was
our own Tanya Rahn-Kubasta, alto! She was
a great choice this year. The Loreley Singers
from Oshawa were welcome guests at this
event.
At Stiftungsfest, November 3rd, the men’s
choir will sing. It is a celebration of the
Concordia Club’s 139th Anniversary.
We will be singing on Sunday, November
18th at Volkstrauertag at Woodland Cemetery. Coffee and Cake will be served at the
Hubertushaus. This is the German Canadian
Hunting and Fishing Club in Mannheim.
Both choirs sing at the Christkindlmarkt on
Saturday, December 8th. Our Christmas
concert takes place the next day on December 9th. Christmas is always such a
beautiful time.

Our September trip to the Butterfly Conservatory in Guelph had to be postponed
due to “technical difficulties” until October.
For the November meeting, the agenda will
be announced by phone. Possibly a speaker/demonstration of outside winter decorations will be arranged.
The General meeting and Christmas gettogether will be Wednesday, December 12.

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving
with family and friends. It’s hard to believe
Oktoberfest 2012 has come and gone. The
Pretzel booth was well visited during the
festive week and many of you had a chance
to enjoy them! A special thank you to those
members and friends who helped set up and
take down the Pretzel booth. On October
27th The Narrenzunft Concordia members
celebrated its 46th Anniversary (Stiftungsfest) with a dinner in the Schenke. We look
forward to another year of Karneval!!

this letter. Oktoberfest is always one of the
highlights of the year for the guys but this
year it will be even better than usual. Our
season wrapped up last Friday and the guys
will be celebrating tonight as league champions. We finished with just two losses in
twenty two matches on the way to the top of
the First Division. A big thanks as always to
my right hand man Jack Boghossian for his
unwavering dedication to the team. I would
be lost without him. A special thanks to
Nino for stepping up to help Jack while I
was away. As always, none of this would be
possible without the direction and leadership of our president Dieter Herkert. We are
already looking forward to next season and
the hope that our success will continue on
the field.
We will be attending our league banquet on
Saturday, November 3rd where we will be
presented with the champion’s trophy. We
have also started working on player recruitment for next season. Our team will be getting together for Christmas brunch at the
club on December 9th. Thank you to all who
came out to cheer us on during the 2012 season. We look forward to seeing you on the
sidelines in 2013 when we take the field in
defense of our title.

I hope all had a good Oktoberfest as we
wind into November and start our plans for
Christmas and the New Year. We will be
heading to Stifungsfest as a group and start
planning our Christmas events as well. We
have flyers out for our annual spring,
Fruehlingsfest Dance and we hope the early
invitations will generate extra attendance.
April 6, 2013 is the date of our dance so
mark it on your calendar and buy some tickets for Christmas presents, they will make
great stocking stuffers. Tickets will be available at the Club beginning December 1. I
would like to wish all our group members
who have a birthday this Month, Tanya
Kubasta and Sandra Hattle.
