Knowledge Bowlers Take Third and Best in English
By: Noah Cardwell
On Friday February 12, four Senior High
Knowledge Bowl teams in grades 9-12 went to Fergus
Falls to compete. Everyone did very well!
Congratulations to Austin Stueve, Kayla Moberg,
Lukas Adelman, Erick Hernandez and Jordan Bauer, at
right, who took third place.
And also congrats to Preston Reedy, Julianne Backer, Alma Jorgenson, Mackenzie
Fitzner and Abby Dale, at left, who earned the Best in English Honor.
Throughout the season the Senior High
Knowledge Bowlers have been practicing under the
coaching of Mrs. Jibben. The final competition (unless a
team advances) will be held on March 15 in Fergus
Falls. Good luck to all competing.

There have been some very valid complaints about how people don’t pick up after
themselves in the stands. After many of the
sporting events in the gym the stands look like trash. The visitors
must think we are slobs after they see how nobody picks up after
themselves!
Spectators have even taken the trouble to photograph the bleachers and send them to “Paw Press
Weekly.” Please have some decency and pick up after yourselves! Do you really want to be noticed as one of the slobs? Do
you want the sports fans in our and neighboring communities
to think we’re too lame to throw out our own trash?

“Sweet Caroline” Dun! Dun! Dun!
By: Kayla Moberg
Every street dance you attend, every major
league baseball game and every oldies rock radio station plays the famous Neil Diamond song we all love
to sing along with in various pitches. That song is, of
course, “Sweet Caroline!” We all sing along, but do we
know what we are jamming out to?
According to the website “Song Facts,” Neil Diamond wrote the song for his second wife whose name
was Marcia. Unfortunately “Sweet Marcia” does not
quite fit with the tune; however, “Sweet Caroline!” fit
the famous piece perfectly.
In 1969, when the song first came out, the media wanted to know who this mystery girl was. Turns out that artist Neil Diamond got the name idea after seeing a photo of former President John F. Kennedy’s then twelve-year-old daughter Caroline
Kennedy. Eventually, Diamond told Caroline Kennedy about this hidden truth when he
played the song for her thirty-eight years later at her 50th birthday party.
