Bericht des Präsidenten
Besten Dank für eure
Unterstützung und euer
Vertrauen bei unserer
Jahreshauptversamm lung. Ein herzliches
Willkommen zu unserem neuen Vorstandsmitglied Rob Kerr. Wie
ihr seht, ich habe mich
entschlossen zwei weitere Jahre als Vorstandsmitglied unseres
Klubs zu verbleiben, das erste Jahr als Präsident. Ich werde mich bemühen möglichst
allen Aufforderungen meines Amtes gerecht
zu werden und alle Mitglieder unseres
Klubs auf dem laufenden zu halten. Präsident unseres Klubs zu sein ist keine leichte
Aufgabe, aber ich hoffe auf gute Zusammenarbeit mit dem Vorstand und den Untergruppen. Wie Werner in seinem letzten Bericht erwähnt hat, haben wir eine einmalige
Geschäftsführung mit Personal und ich
brauche da keine großen Sorgen zu haben,
ob das Geschäft gut läuft. Doch ich hoffe auf
weitere gute, positive Zusammenarbeit und
Harmonie mit unserer Belegschaft, damit
wir noch viele Jahre unseren Klub erhalten
können.
Auf der Jahresversammlung haben sich
einige Mitglieder über die Zustände unserer
Toiletten beschwert. Bitte habt noch ein
bisschen Geduld, ich kann euch versichern,
dass wir die Toiletten aufs modernste umbauen werden. Es wäre hinausgeschmissenes Geld, wenn wir nur halbe Arbeit machen würden. Schließlich soll unser Klub
noch viele Jahre bestehen. Einige Prospekte
liegen bereits vor.
Wie ich in meinem Jahresbericht (Haus &

Grundstück) erwähnt habe, sind einige
größere Projekte für dieses Jahr vorgesehen:
Automatische Türöffner für Behinderte an 2
Eingängen, einen bei der Jägerstube und der
zweite an der hinteren Tür zur Halle. Das
zweite Projekt ist das Gebäude. Die Holzbalken an der Außenwand sind morsch,
zum Teil verfault und müssen erneuert werden. Zur gleichen Zeit werden die Außenwände frisch gestrichen. Sobald das Wetter
es zulässt werden diese Projekte angefangen.
Bitte vergesst nicht das Bockbierfest mit
Krönung der neuen Miss Concordia am 2.
April, das Frühlings Konzert der Concordia
Chöre am 1. Mai und am 6. Mai den
Frühlingstanz des Treffpunkts. Aufräumen
auf der Farm ist am 1. Mai, Klubgelände
Reinigung ist am 30. April.
Wenn ihr dieses Nachrichtenblatt erhaltet,
sind wir bestimmt schon wieder am umgraben der Blumenbeete und bereiten es
zum anpflanzen vor.
Matthias und ich hoffen, dass sich vielleicht
doch jemand erbarmt und uns Hilfe leistet.

President’s Report
Thank you very much for the support you
have given me at our annual meeting. I will
try to do my best for you as President of our
club over the next year.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to
Rob Kerr, the newest Member of the
Concordia Club board of Directors.
It is a big job and responsibility to run our
club. With the help of the Board, our
Manager Peter, Banquet Manager Ruth and
Staff I hope we have another successful
year.
At the annual meeting, some members
expressed concerns about the conditions of
the washrooms throughout the building.
The Budget needed to be approved before
we could actually start with the renovations, and now the ball is rolling. Your
patience is appreciated – time is needed, so
we can plan this project carefully. For the
time being, I can tell you that the new washrooms will be modern and up to date facilities, but not inexpensive – however, we will
try our best to get good quality work done
for good value.
We are committed to 2 other projects this
spring, as follows:
#2 Automatic door openers for wheelchair
access (one beside the Jägerstube and another for the back door to the Hall). It is our
legal obligation to put these in place.
#1 Renovation of the exterior walls of the
Building (Painting & Wood replacement)

Der Geschäftsführer berichtet
Die Wintermonate kommen
nun endlich langsam ihrem
Ende entgegen und wir bieten gleichzeitig unseren
Mitgliedern mehrere Möglichkeiten, den Klub und
sein Angebot zu nutzen.
Das Angebot fängt an mit
dem:
Bockbierfest
welches am 2. April von der Frauengruppe
des Klubs in der Halle abgehalten wird.
Diese Veranstaltung gibt’s im Klub natürlich
seit vielen Jahren und freut sich heute nach
wie vor großer Beliebtheit! Nach den
Wintermonaten ist es natürlich auch eine
vorzügliche Gelegenheit endlich mal wieder
aus dem Haus zu kommen, um mit Freunden sein zu können und dabei einen gemütlichen Abend verbringen zu können. Natürlich gibt es, wie in all den Vorjahren, das
beliebte „Bockbier“. Dieses Mal sogar aus
Deutschen Landen und auch wieder vom
Faß! Ja, es ist die Bockbierzeit, denn traditionsgemäß konnte das früher nur in den
Wintermonaten gebraut werden, derweil
man damals noch keine elektrischen
Kühlanlagen hatte und so mehr auf das
Wetter angewiesen war. Hinzu kam dann
noch der Trick der Mönche, sich etwas zusammenzubrauen, das einen höheren Nährwert hat, und somit „schummelte“ man ein
bisschen während der sonst so streng genommenen Fastenzeit.
Selbstverständlich schließt der Eintrittspreis von nur $22.- ein serviertes Essen,
Nachspeise sowie Kaffe mit ein, wie auch
die Verkaufssteuern und das Bedienungsgeld. Machen Sie deshalb von diesem günstigen Angebot Gebrauch – immerhin gibt es

nur ein Bockbierfest im Jahr! Zum Tanz
spielen die KW Golden Keys, und die sorgen ganz bestimmt für die richtige Stimmung. Seien sie mit dabei!
All Choirs night
am 8. April geht’s dann weiter mit einer
Chorveranstaltung, die alljährlich ebenso
einmal, in der Halle stattfindet. Zwar ist es
kein Chorwettbewerb, aber manche der Sänger vergleichen trotzdem gerne mit dem,
was so von der Konkurrenz geboten wird –
denn oft habe ich schon anerkennende Worte gehört. Zwar hatten wir in vielen Vorjahren ein volles Haus, aber in den letzten zwei
Jahren gab es noch genügend Platz für Zuschauer! Demzufolge nehme ich stark an,
dass es da noch Platz geben könnte.
Die Pfälzische Kurrende,
ein hochdekorierter Gastchor aus Neustadt
an der Weinstrasse gibt sich die Ehre, uns
einen musikalischen Ohrenschmaus zu
bieten. Diesen gibt es am Mittwochabend,
dem 20. April um 19 Uhr in der Schenke.
Die Pfälzische Kurrende ist ein Frauenchor,
welcher schon viele Preise in Deutschland
gewonnen hat und wir können uns deshalb
glücklich schätzen, diese Kulturgruppe an
diesem Abend in unserer Mitte zu haben!
Wir stellen uns diese Veranstaltung als ein
Dinner-Konzert vor. Ab 17 Uhr wird unser
bayrisches Buffet und auch die normale
Speisekarte zur Verfügung stehen. Man hat
dann so ca. 1,5 Stunden. Der Chor singt
dann ab 19 Uhr. Wir werden keinen Eintritt
zu dieser Veranstaltung erheben, jedoch bitten wir um eine freiwillige Geldspende für
den Gastchor während des Konzerts. Da die
besten Plätze immer früh reserviert werden,
bitten wir um rechtzeitige Anmeldung! Das
Goethe Institut sowie das Auswärtige Amt
in Deutschland sind Mitsponsoren dieser
Gruppe junger Damen. Natürlich ist der
Klub auch ein Sponsor, denn wir werden
die Gruppe anständig verköstigen.
Ostern
wie schon im der letzten Ausgabe der
„Nachrichten“ angekündigt, bieten wir wieder unser beliebtes Osterbrunch-Buffet zum
Mittag und unser Oster-Smorggasbord
Buffet ab 17 Uhr am Ostersonntag, dem 24.
April an. Wie in den Vorjahren, hat sich unsere Küche viel Gedanken um die Vorbereitungen gemacht, damit auch alles genau so
toll wird. Es gibt wieder eine große Auswahl
an den verschiedensten Vorspeisen und
Salaten. Natürlich gibt es auch eine tolle
Selektion am warmen Buffet und an Süßspeisen und Nebenspeisen. Es soll wirklich
ganz und gar nicht fehlen! Das Buffet wird
wieder im Mittelpunkt des Raumes stehen!
Tisch Reservierungen gibt’s im Klubbüro.
Der Preis in diesem Jahr wird $20.95 pro
Person sein. Kinder zwischen 4 und 12 Jahren bezahlen nur die Hälfte und Kinder bis
zu 4 Jahren sind kostenfrei. Zuzüglich Verkaufssteuern und Bedienungsgeld) Unsere
Osterversanstaltungen sind natürlich eine
einmalige Gelegeheit, die ganze Familie
mitzubringen! Rufen Sie an und machen Sie
Ihre Reservierung!
Momentane Sonderangebote
Auch in der Schenke steht nichts still. Im
Moment bieten wir eine Reihe von beliebten
Flaschenweinen zum reduzierten Preis an.
Hierbei gibt es sowie rote als auch weiße
und auch einen Rosa Wein zu äußerst niedrigen Preisen – so lange der Vorrat reicht!
Ebenso haben wir neue Fassbiere in unser
Sortiment aufgenommen: Paulaner Hefe
Dunkel, wie auch Warsteiner Dunkel! Somit
haben wir jetzt sogar zwei Dunkelbiere vom
Faß. Nach Warsteiner Dunkel wurde immer
wieder gefragt und somit versuchen wir es
noch mal um zu sehen wie und wo die
„wirkliche“ Nachfrage sein wird. Kommen
Sie und genießen sie eines oder beide dieser
neuen Biere!
Großreinemachen auf dem Klubgelände
Seit einigen Jahren haben wir eine sehr
erfolgreiche Großreinemachen Aktion, wo
uns viele Mitglieder ehrenamtlich dabei
helfen, das Gelände beim Gebäude, als auch
den Zäunen entlang und hinter dem Klub
aufzuräumen und vom langen Herbst und
Winter wieder auf Vordermann zu bringen.
Jedes Jahr kommen nahezu 50 Helfer mit
Handschuhen, Schaufeln und Rechen und
melden sich bei unserem Präsidenten. Er
verteilt dann die Arbeit, damit auch alles
von geeigneten Kräften erledigt wird. Das
Datum für diese Aktion wird in diesem Jahr
der Samstag, der 30. April um 9 Uhr in der
Früh’ sein. Dann geht’s los, denn zum Mittag wollen wir fertig sein. Dann schließt die
ganze Sache mit einem gemeinsamen Mittagessen ab. Wir versprechen jedem, dass er
spätestens um 13:30 Uhr zu Hause sein
kann. Sollten Sie also Zeit und Elan haben,
Ihrem Klub ehrenamtlich zu helfen und dabei einen wesentlichen Unterschied machen, dann bitte kommen Sie und machen
Sie mit! Wir sind dafür auf jeden Fall
äußerst dankbar!!
Vorverkauf der Oktoberfest Eintrittskarten
Wie in den Vorjahren verkaufen wir in
Kürze die diesjährigen Oktoberfest Eintrittskarten. Am 4. Mai um 9 Uhr in der Früh
wird’s mal wieder so weit sein: Karten für
Oktoberfest 2011 sind ab diesem Zeitpunkt
für Mitglieder erhältlich! Nichtmitglieder
kommen eine Woche später zum Zug.
Natürlich sind Karten in diesem Jahr wieder
“on line” auf unserer Webseite, ab dem 12.
Mai erhältlich. Kartenpreise pro Person sind
wie folgt:

Um 8 Uhr morgens werden Wartenummern
an alle Leute, die sich seit Stunden angestellt haben, ausgegeben (Im Vorjahr fing die
Warteschlange um 5.30 Uhr an). Die Schenke wird ab 8 Uhr am 4. Mai, zum Frühstück
geöffnet sein. Das Kartenbüro fängt kurz vor
9 Uhr mit dem Vorverkauf an. Es gelten
nach wie vor die gleichen Regeln:
20 Karten pro Wochenende als Maximum
pro Mitgliedschaft pro Wochenende (Freitags-Samstags).
Mitglieder die sich bereits Karten vor dem
11. Mai erworben haben, können keine
Karten am „public sale date“ erwerben
Einlaß zum Oktoberfest wird nur Personen
über 19 Jahre gewährt (außer an den Familientagen).
Es besteht keine Zahlenbeschränkung für
alle anderen Oktoberfest Veranstaltungen
Gültige Zahlungsmittel sind Visa, Mastercard, Debit Card, Bargeld sowie Scheck
Zuzügliche Gebühren für Postversand und
Verkaufsabwicklung fallen an
Karten werden ebenso ab dem 12. Mai on
line an unserer Webseite www.concordia-

club.ca oder auch bei www.oktoberfesttickets.ca erhältlich sein. Wir behalten uns vor,
On-Line Bestellungen zurückzuweisen sofern diese von bzw. für eine Person sind, die
schon Karten im Büro an den vorhergehenden Tagen erworben hat.
On-Line Bestellungen hängen von der
Anzahl der Zugänge zum Server zum jeweiligen Zeitpunkt ab. Im letzten Jahr waren so viele gleichzeitige Anfragen, dass der
Server überladen war und entsprechend
abgewartet werden musste. Es ist dann so
ähnlich, wie bei einer Lotterie – man muss
dann ein bisschen Glück auf seiner Seite
haben!
Frühlingsfest
Unsere Jugendgruppe, der „Treffpunkt“ veranstaltet ihre erste Tanzveranstaltung am
Freitagabend, dem 6. Mai ab 20 Uhr. Es spielen die KW Golden Keys. Eintrittskarten
sind im Klubbüro zu je $15.- erhältlich. Es
verspricht ein toller Abend zu werden!
Muttertag
Am 8. Mai ist es soweit – der Muttertag wird
gefeiert, und oft sogar mit der ganzen erweiterten Familie. Wie auch in all den Vorjahren, wartet der Klub mit einer entsprechend
dekorierten Halle und einem tollen Brunch
Buffet ab 12 Uhr Mittags oder auch zu
einem Abend Buffet ab 17 Uhr auf. Küchenchef Andreas und seine Mannschaft haben
den Speiseplan erstellt und ich kann Ihnen
schon heute verraten, dass es wieder so gut
werden wird, wie im letzten und vorletzten
Jahr! Es wird eine riesige Auswahl von vielen Vorspeisen, Hauptspeisen und Nachspeisen an unserem Buffet geben. Sie werden ganz bestimmt nicht mit leerem Magen
nach Hause gehen, das garantiere ich Ihnen.
Vergessen Sie nicht, sich Ihre Plätze rechtzeitig zu reservieren. Preise für dieses Jahr:
$20.95 pro Person. Kinder zwischen 4 und
12 Jahren bezahlen die Hälfte und Klein-
kinder bis zu 4 Jahren sind kostenfrei (zuzüglich Verkaufssteuern und Bedienungsgeld).
Inflationsdruck und Regenwasser Gebühr
Seit geraumer Zeit haben sich viele Getreideprodukte, Zucker, Obst und Gemüse,
sowie auch viele andere verwandten Lebensmittel wesentlich verteuert. Zwar war
dies in der Vergangenheit oft nur vorübergehend, aber den Medienberichten zufolge
soll dieser Trend weiter anhalten und weitere Preissteigerungen mit sich bringen.
Auch verlangen viele Lieferanten jetzt extra
Liefergebühren für Treibstoff, was sich natürlich an unseren Einkaufspreisen niederschlägt.
Auch unser Gemeinderat oder Stadtrat hat
uns da ein bitteres Süppchen eingebrockt:
man verlangt jetzt von unserem Klub eine
Regenwasser Abwassergebühr von fast
$1,000 pro Monat. Das frustriert mich natürlich ungemein, denn wo sollen wir denn
dieses Geld wieder hernehmen? Wir sprechen da von Inflation, und wir sind oftmals
die ersten und die Auslöser: alle unsere Regierungsstellen, die uns immer wieder weismachen wollen, dass die Wirtschaft angekurbelt werden müsse und dann kommen
knallhart neue Steuern. Zwar nennt man
das dann Gebühren oder irgendwie etwas
anderes, aber unter dem Strich sind das
immer noch Steuern. Schließlich und endlich kann man nicht sagen: „Das brauch ich
nicht, und somit kaufe ich es nicht“, nein,
leider hat man diese Option nicht.
Das ist einfach unglaublich – aber wird es
jemals aufhören? Ich glaube es einfach nicht
mehr! Kein Wunder dass die Geschäfte stöhnen, denn diese Steuerlast ist nicht im Sinne der Verbraucher.
Deshalb sind wir auch so dankbar gegenüber unserer Mitgliedschaft, denn da
kommt’s „warm“ her. Da hält man zusam-
men und schätzt, was man sich so in der
Vergangenheit aufgebaut hat. Deshalb freue
ich mich auch immer auf’s neue, wenn ich
so viele von Ihnen in unserem Klub begrüßen kann – es besteht ein enges Verhältnis und viel Vertrauen! Unsere Mitglieder
zeigen immer wieder auf’s neue, dass ihnen
der Klub was bedeutet und dass man stolz
darauf ist!.

winter is in it's final stages and we have a
whole list of events coming up to entice you
as members to make use of your club facilities! It commences with:
Bockbierfest
on April the 2nd is an event the Ladies
Group has been putting on for as long as I
can remember, and that is indeed a long
time. This evening is always a great opportunity for every member to come out in the
new year and partake in a social event dedicated to spring. Of course Bockbier is the
theme and connoisseurs of this specialty
know that back in the olden days it could
only be produced during the winter months,
because cold temperatures were needed
during the brewing process. In addition it
was also a legalistic way during the lenten
season for the monks' to nourish their bodies with a beverage! Admission includes a
fully served meal and entertainment by the
Golden Keys. Tickets with table reservations
are available in the club office – the price is
a very reasonable $ 22.- only and includes
applicable taxes and gratuities. Make use of

this opportunity and meet your friends at
this event!
All Choirs night
on April 8th is also an event where not only
our Choir, but visiting guest Choirs show
some of their repertoire. It's not a competition, but certainly has a bit of this element
as everyone attending can make comparistons. Over the years we had a packed hall,
but in the last few years there was spare
room for visitors. Join them if you can – you
will enjoy a few hours of beautiful entertainment amongst friends!
Visiting German Choir
The “Pfaelzische Kurrende” Choir from
Germany is coming to Kitchener to present
us with some of their music. This Choir is
an award winning Ladies Choir from
Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. We will feature them on Wednesday, April 20 at a dinner concert in the Schenke. There will be no
admission charge, however we'll do a silver
collection and of course we hope also that
most of our guests will partake in the
Bavarian buffet before the concert which
will start at 7pm. The Buffet will be available from 5pm. Seating in the Schenke is
limited, so please reserve early!!! This choir
is also sponsored by the Goethe Institute
and the German Foreign Ministry, so they
are definitely very special. Of course
Concordia is also a sponsor, as we will feed
the group while they visit us.

helpers are planning to make this event as

Easter Brunch and Dinner Buffet
every year we invite the membership at
large to help us at the annual spring clean
up around the club building and along the
club property. We have been very blessed in
the past with 50 or so volunteers who show
up with their gloves, rakes and shovels to do
a “hands on” cleanup!

families to our fantastic Easter Brunch and
Easter Buffet on April 24th. The Brunch will
be featured at Noon and the Buffet will be

Oktoberfest Ticket Sale
like we have done for many years,
Oktoberfest Admission Tickets will go on
sale for our members first. This takes place
one week before they are made available to
the public. The date is Wednesday before
Mother's Day (May 4th) and Wednesday
after Mother's Day (May 11th) respectively.
The club office will be open from 9am on
these days.
We will hand out waiting numbers starting
at 8am for the people standing in line. This
will give everybody an opportunity to relax
and take a seat in the Schenke until their
number is called. There is also an opportunity to enjoy a nice breakfast and chat with
your friends! Once we call your waiting
number it's time to go to the office to obtain
your tickets just like it has been done in the
past.
The rules for members have not changed
and are:
a maximum of 20 tickets per weekend per
FAMILY MEMBERSHIP.
Members who purchased tickets in advance
of the public sale date CAN NOT purchase
tickets on the public sale date.
Only adults of legal drinking age (19) and
older are admitted (except family days)

Frühlingsfest
our youth group called the “Treffpunkt” is
putting on their first function on Friday,

May 6th in our main hall. Music will be provided by the Golden Keys. Tickets are $ 15.and are of course available in the club

Mother's Day
May 8th is the date for this year's Mother's
Day! Our Hall will be decorated appropriately for this joyous occasion and again, like
we've done in the past we offer our typical
Mother's Day buffet in two seatings. One at
Noon and the second one at 5pm. Chef
Andreas has already completed his list of
foods available and let me tell you it will be
as good as last year for sure! We guarantee,
you will not be disappointed. Please call

Inflationary Pressures and the Sewer Water
Surcharge
Most recently we've noticed an ever increasing price rise in grains, sugar, vegetables
and other related food supplies. This of
course means that we'll be hard pressed to
maintain profitability. In the past these
increases were short lived, however the
price spiral is still going up and now our
suppliers are adding hefty fuel surcharges to
any and every delivery. To add insult to
injury our city council has added another
big one to our bills. No matter how you disguise it, the bottom line on our property
taxes means that we've been hit with a 30%
tax increase because the club now pays $
994.- per month for the new sewer water
surcharge to the city. It certainly seems very
frustrating once you realize that our various
governments add substantially to inflation.
Will it ever end – I don't think so for a
minute. For a business it will always be a

struggle to survive and we are certainly not
exempt. However we treasure our loyal
members and many volunteers who support
us year round and show that they care for
their club. This is very uplifting and gratifying. Thank you all members!

Campers
As you read this, we’re already two weeks
into spring. Let’s hope the weather man
looks at his calendar!!
The campers are all looking forward to getting out to the farm, and getting their campsites cleaned up, so that they are free to help
with the general farm clean up on May 1st.
This is a fun event, and all club members
are welcome to attend.
For those who were unable to attend the
Club Annual Meeting, Campers President
Reiner Schulz, and Campers Past President
Steve Richtaritch presented a cheque in the
amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00)
to the Club. This is money that the campers
have raised to help cover the cost of new
washroom facilities at the farm.
Thanks to all the campers, and everyone
else who have supported our fun activities
out at the farm, and our Oktoberfest booth!
We’re trying something new this year, and
hopefully everyone can take advantage of it.
We have a link on Facebook to a calendar of
events out at the farm. This will be kept up
to date with everything going on, not only
Campers events, but anything farm related.
For those who aren’t Facebook users, we
hope to get that link posted on the Club

Garden Group
During the month of March, our regular
meeting was replaced with an excursion to
Canada Blooms in Toronto. It’s always a
great place to see what’s new and exciting in
the way of our gardens and perhaps even
make a purchase or two.
April's topic is still to be confirmed at the
time of our bulletin printing. Edith is hoping to have a guest speaker from Sheridan
discussing the topic of “pruning”, how,
when and why. This skill is essential for
many of our garden trees, shrubs and other
plants to ensure healthy growth.

April showers bring May flowers and Music!
The choirs have been very busy during the
winter months practicing for our Spring
Concert in May and European tour in June.
See the complete advertising for the Spring
concert in this bulletin. On Sunday May 1.
we will be showcasing “Concert Tour Preview”. Start time is 7:30 pm. The Concordia
mixed, male and children’s choir hope to
see you all there.
The club annual meeting was held in
February and the choir would like to congratulate all those who were elected into the
main board, as well as congratulations to
our new president Karl Braun. We know it’s
a lot of work to run the club, and we look
forward to work closely with all of you. The
choir would also like to extend our gratitude to the departing president Werner
Schlueter. Our president has been a great
supporter of the club and the many groups
within the club, and I know we will continue to see you at the many club events
throughout the year. I have enclosed a poem
written by Danuta Grigaitis, that expresses
our thanks to you.

Dear Fellow Outdoor Group and Concordia
Club Members
I was hoping to write about how wonderful
our Winter Carnival was but unfortunately
we had to cancel it this year. I am not sure
exactly how long we have had this function,
but it is close to 40 years. The reason for the
cancellation was that our liquor license was
refused by Wilmot Township. I was away
for a week when the Concordia Club was
notified about this refusal. The Main Board
had a meeting before I returned and decided
to cancel Winter Carnival and not pursue
the issue. The reasoning behind their decision was not to create any further problems
with the Township due to the application
we have pursuing the legalization of the
camp ground.
It would seem this was meant to be because
it poured rain the days before March 6th
and the bridge was flooded and most of the
snow was gone. Now my concerns as president of your group is for the future.
Will we have a Fathers’ Day function at
Home On The Range? I don’t know and it
doesn’t look promising. If you would like
more details as to why we are having these
issues the best people to talk to are the ones
trying to get our Camp Ground legalized.
We just have to hope and pray that they will
have this done soon. Nith River Campground’s owner went bankrupt fighting
Wilmot Township trying to legalize his
camp ground. My understanding is that we
are working together with the environment
and the Township so we should not have
the same fate as our neighbour.
On a positive note we have all kinds of other
functions happening this year. They are
posted with the dates in your February issue
of the Nachrichten and they should be on
the Concordia Club website.
I would like to thank Werner Schlueter for
his efforts as our President for 9 years and I

Hello Karneval Friends!
The members of the Narrenzunft Concordia
graciously thank all of the wonderful people
who attended our events throughout the 20102011 Season! Those of you who supported us
during Karneval enjoyed the 4x11
Anniversary of our Group in November, our
Crazy Ladies Night in February and were
entertained by the Garde Dancers and ate
Krapfen during the Closing Ceremonies on
Rose Monday March 7th in the Schenke. Sadly
our Hoppeditz was put to rest until November
2011 when he will awaken and declare the
2011-2012 Karneval Season open again!
Thank you to all our members and volunteers
who dedicated their time and energy to make
our events a great success!
A special thanks to our Garde dance teacher
Elaine Keller for her amazing enthusiasm and
dedication this year. This enthusiasm has been

To streamline all the group reports, I have
to ask the secretary of each group to send
their monthly report only to one address.
If you have a computer you send it to
“[email protected]”.
No report should go to Peter Pijet, Rita Allmendinger or Jake Liebel from Alert
Graphics. If you have no computer, please
hand in your report in at the Concordia
office. From this date on, all the reports
have to go through Hans Malthaner or in
case he is not available, through Robert
Nowak, E-Mail:
[email protected].
It has to be signed and approved by the
Bulletin Committee before they will be
printed. The reports have to be in by the
8th of the month or before. I try to accommodate every group the same. Every group
is allowed 1 picture per month in the bulletin, if you miss one month, you cannot
double up the next. Flyers for one of your
upcoming events have to be placed early
enough, so it’s printed and published before the event. The bulletin usually arrives
printed and in the mail around the end
and the beginning of the month. Don’t
blame the publisher if it is too late. I wish
I can work with every group in harmony
and I will do my best not to lose any report
in “Cyberspace”, like some groups claimed. Some pictures and some homemade
flyers I received, were not up to standard.
Please don’t forget, the printing takes a lot
of the quality away. Example: the last
crazy Ladies night flyer. We wish you all a
good summer.

Treffpunkt
Spring is almost here! March has been a
month of thaw and re-freeze. Just enough to
get the gardeners excited and the snow
lovers one more time on the slopes. I have to
admit to flipping through a seed catalogue
at some point.
On Feb 11th, we went to the Chicopee Tube
Park and enjoyed 2 hours of fast paced,
whizzing down an icy hill fun. Everyone
had a great time with friends and even finding some inner courage. Feb 25th, a small
group of us represented the Concordia
Treffpunkt at the Alpine Club's “Taste of
France” evening. We made some new
friends while enjoying a French Alpine
meal of creamed bean soup, the most delicious smoked ham I ever had, stuffed tomatoes and of course… crepes for dessert!
Thank-you to the Alpine Club for a memorable evening.
Crazy Ladies Night was lots of fun! Treffpunkt showed up with a group of over 12
members in either hospital or knights &
ladies costumes. Congratulations to our
members Ali Nowak and Andrew & Diane
Hatchwell for winning some costume
prizes. I think that everyone looked awesome! Thank-you to the Narrenzunft for a
great evening!
